Our guests are only the ducks and the swan, but then, it`s All Creatures great and small...

My guests are the small birds pecking at the left out seeds. And I love watching them.

A wonderful year to you as well, Val. Thanks for your comment. Regarding the peas, you can use fresh (soaked overnight first), frozen, or canned. If you use the canned, be sure to rinse and drain first, and use salt sparingly as these have already been salted.

I used a bit of bayleaf and very light olive oil and simply added enough liquid to cook without burning. Another variation is to add some chopped tomatoes and coriander. You can use any spice that appeals, really.

Let me know how you like them.

PS: Some people like to season peas with pepper sauce, which you can find jarred here, too.

Wishing you the very happiest of new years! I haven't had much internet access over the past few weeks, emailing my own entries, and anxiously awaited the opportunity to catch up on your world and your life.

I enjoyed your Christmas in the sun pictures, above all the lion. We have a new calendar for 2011 – photographs of wild cats – the lynx is beautiful but really the lion is truly the king. Thanks for commenting on my blog. I hope that 2011 will be an exceptional year for you with much happiness, inspiration and laughs.

Quite a menagerie you have for dinner & lunch. Our visitors are mainly birds, squirrels, a rabbit or two, & a neighbors gray cat. Happy new year to you!
