The lions kept us awake last night. They were calling all around. So we were awake early. It was cold - kalahari winter cold that takes your breath away.
Only thing to do was to jump in the car, put the heater on and go out to see what we could find. It was dark but daylight softly threw light on the scene and all too soon the drama of this.....sunrise and palm tree.
have a great day!

Hi Val! Good to see you! I am afraid the picture is not coming up? How cold does it get?
I tremble imagining that !Lions! kept you up last night. In Minnesota, it was teenagers in cars driving down the cul-de-sac at 2-3-4 in the morning, opening and shutting car doors, and talking drunkenly loudly. Perhaps the lions would like to meet the teenagers?
Val,
hahaha! that Chris is so funny!
i can't see the photo either. but i can hear the lions if i close my eyes...
lucky girl ☺
Always TAKE CARE, Val!!! I think I would NOT get into the car and try to FIND the lions. Instead I would hide under my cover. You are quite amazing people, the two of you! I`ll write you a mail tonight!!! Love, Geli
rats - dont know why that pic didnt show - will try again... thanks for commenting anyhow!
Lorac - we can get frost on the floodplains - its a dry cold - nothing like Canada so i feel a wimp saying anything but really our homes, clothes etc are not equipped. winter is only a few weeks anyhow so it has novelty value too..
Chris - haha - yes perhaps they SHOULD meet!
Lori Ann - yeah its a great sound to break into your dreams :-)
Geli - its always exciting to see/hear the lions - espec when you are inside the vehicle or tucked up in bed....hehe
hope to get some more words than pics done later today ... love Vxx
Well it looks like funny but i think you need to take care of yourself. Do you have any pic of that night.
Can just imagine that cold, and the sound of the lions - and can picture the non-showing picture, too! x
It sounds like a lovely winter morn, so far from a Washington DC summer. I love reading your words.
Like the others, I too can picture that lovely scene......and hear the deep throaty roar of the lions.
