spoilt brat

much to my frustration the only way i can post blogposts at the moment is by emailing them to myself but hopefully these pics will make it through the cyber curtain.
i had a birthday recently and this is where i spent it - next to this most amazing river and waterfall; the river is still swollen with floodwaters, so the falls are really full and the spray visible from far. The Mosi o Tunya or Smoke that Thunders. lucky lucky me

Happy Birthday!!!

A coincidence, but my friend sent me an email this morning showing slides of how some people go and swim in devil's pool. I thought it looked made up, but then she sent me this
http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/devilspool.asp

just amazing.

Omigod. I clicked on that Snopes link and looked at the photos. I'm sitting in my living room in Canada, and I've got goosebumps. I guess I'll never be a "radical tourist". Apart from the scary swimming stuff, though, I'll bet that was a beautiful place to spend your birthday, and I hope you had a great time.

Too stunning. I was just singing the praises of Vic Falls yesterday as I gazed over Niagara Falls - both truly awesome!

Rob - your beautiful Niagara pics prompted me to post these!

Lola - many thanks! yes much more apt than 'Waterfall' - there is so much drama andpower in the entire zambezi river tipping over a ledge.

Lakeviewer - thank you :-)

You lucky lucky lucky girl!
I haven't been to that area. . . . yet. It's one of my Places to Visit Before I Die.
Were you in a plane or microlight?

I have a picture of me at 22 years, standing in front of the Vic Falls, on our honeymoon trip. I thought there was water enough at the time! And then the thundering noise and the veil of foam - it was just marvellous. The whole Zambesi River is. And the Luangwa!
